Reflexology uses specific pressure and trigger point techniques on the feet. The basis of reflexology is that there are points, known as reflexes in the feet, which correspond to the organs and systems of the body.
Reflexology as a western therapy was introduced in the 1930s by American Physiotherapist Eunice Ingham. Eunice mapped out reflex points on the feet and hands that correspond to all of the organs, glands and parts of the body. “Stories the Feet Can Tell Through Reflexology” and “Stories the Feet have Told Through Reflexology” are two books written by Eunice Ingham, which give case studies demonstrating the effectiveness of her work. Generally described as a relaxation therapy alone, the potential of reflexology is not fully recognised.
With the combination of the refined and adapted techniques of the Original Ingham Method (OIM) and the powerful Advanced techniques of ART™, reflexology treatments are enhanced in their effectiveness for treating many acute and chronic clinical conditions.
