Our bodies are designed to heal
This is the foundation to all Eastern practices and medicinal traditions. And it also forms the basis to Osteopathy, which is why Thai Yoga Massage and Osteopathy work so beautifully together.
The body has an incredible innate intelligence. It already holds all the information to being healthy. It’s like there is a blueprint to the body’s health. The process of healing is therefore always about self-healing. The therapist 'simply' facilitates an environment of less conflict, in which you feel safe enough to come home to your true Nature.
Your healing process might require a bit of work and might take a little time, but we can create a real shift when:
≈ we un-do all those habitual holding patterns of a lifetime ≈
≈ re-educate the body in its perception of our own stories ≈
≈ release tension and revitalise our body systems ≈
≈ remove stagnation and re-mobilise the body ≈
≈ re-wire our nervous system ≈

Osteothai is the beautiful marriage between Thai Yoga Massage and osteopathic principles. The precise but gentle methods of Osteopathy, releasing fascia and encouraging vitality, work in perfect harmony with the creative and powerful practice of Thai Massage with its variations of stretching, movement and acupressure techniques, as well as ancient wisdom of our energy.
Each session is different. Following the natural intelligence of the body and its needs, we may focus on joints, muscles, fascia, internal organs, the respiratory system, the spine or the nervous system, inviting the body into a space of self-healing and equilibrium.
Thai Yoga Massage comes from an ancient Buddhist tradition and is a unique combination of Yoga, acupressure, meditation, physiotherapy and energy work. It is a holistic therapy form with the aim to restore the natural energy balance in body and mind. With its grounding and deeply relaxing qualities, it is the perfect antidote to our modern lifestyle stresses. With the release of holding and blockages, not only the body can regenerate, but the mind also has a chance to quieten down.

Some examples of how these treatments have helped people
A woman suffering from severe Multiple Sclerosis had one session per week with Katrin, helping her to sleep much better, improve her digestion and general sluggishness, and she just loved feeling her legs move for a change. The sessions were simply a relief from otherwise very demanding circumstances.
Another woman who went through a stint of severe colitis used the Osteothai sessions to help her manage the huge amount of stress this condition was causing her. And eventually the treatments also helped release a lot of the blockages in her digestive tract.
A couple, who Katrin works with, enjoys the regular treat, but also finds the sessions a great support with whatever life decides to throw their way. The sessions serve as a kind of maintenance for them.
Often people dealing with scoliosis find Katrin, as she has it too. Usually the sessions help to improve some of the structural issues, leading to more sustained pain-free periods.
Quite a lot of Katrin's female clients suffer from hormone imbalances and severe menstruation pain. Regular Osteothai sessions have resulted in restoring some of the balance, and if timed right, eased the symptoms of the following menstruation.
Many people Katrin works with, live with chronic conditions, ranging from kidney disease to bipolar disorder. These kind of conditions can be a quite traumatising experience, and Katrin supports her clients through their healing process. Any number of things can be addressed in the sessions, from improving sleep to lowering blood pressure, or helping to restore a sense of Self.

What people have said after a treatment
Receiving a Thai Massage from Kat I felt very safe and held. Kat works with a mix of calm confidence and sensitivity that allows you space to relax fully. The depth of her knowledge and skill is clear, I felt as if layers of long held patterns and life experiences were being gentle released and peeled away. The treatment left me feeling so much lighter physically and emotionally. The effect of just one treatment on my well- being is profound. This is a great way to take care of yourself. I always come away feeling deeply relaxed. Highly recommended! |
The skill and fluency of the massage made for a hugely relaxing and therapeutic experience and I was left rested, carefully but definitely stretched and somewhat invigorated. ... My entire body feels as if it’s been stretched and blockages released. As a result, I feel considerably lighter after a treatment. I feel calm and rebalanced during every massage with Katrin and float home after - testament to her understanding of and sensitivity to the human body and energy. |
What happens in a session
A session typically lasts 1.5h, however, as the work is always happening in the moment and follows what arises, it may take a little less or a little longer (max. 2h). The treatment is done on a futon on the floor. You are fully dressed in comfortable clothing such as leggings and t-shirt (a pair of warm socks are always handy).
