Grounding from feet to lungs ~ Afternoon Retreat in Sintra with Johanna, Hayley & Katrin

Floresta Encantada
FLORESTA ENCANTADA, SINTRA
Date: Sunday 1st October

Time: 14:00-18:00
Price: €35 per person
SIGN UP HERE
The beginning of Autumn is the time of transition. Change is in the air. Time to ground and get more settled.

To start, Katrin will guide a grounding Thai Yoga Massage sequence. Through gentle and unambiguous touch, calming pressure and relaxing stretches, we will hold a safe space for each other to let go and return to our centre. Restoring a sense of stability, this bodywork exchange will leave you feeling more yourself again, ready for the fluctuations of change, that are so typical for the autumn season.

After that, let yourself be guided through a grounding Yin Yoga & myofascial release practice by Johanna. Starting with a loving self-massage of your feet, using Massage Therapy balls, we increase circulation and ease stiffness in the body. Then we will hold supported yin yoga positions between 1-4 minutes to promote a deep release of emotional and physical tension, increase mobility and support respiratory and digestive function. To support ourselves and work deeper into our web of connective tissues, we will use Massage balls, bolsters, blankets and blocks for sustained compression. You are invited to stay in the moment and connect to the nourishing qualities that this quiet and gentle practise brings.

Finish the retreat with Hayley for a restorative and relaxing acupuncture session to revitalise your gut health, open the airways in your lungs, and honour the body+mind’s elegant ability to let go of what it doesn’t need and step into the present. Bring shorts (or leggings that can be rolled to your knees) so your meridians can be accessed. Also bring warm layers like socks and sweaters if you tend to get chilly.

Mats and all other equipment are available, and you may prefer to bring your own of course. Please bring a warmer layer/socks for the relaxation parts of our retreat.

Floresta Encantada is a 5-minute walk away from Sintra train station. And free parking is also available.

A social evening of moving, sounding and creating together though playful forms and games.

Move your body, move your voice, connect to your creativity and aliveness in this supportive and playful space of non-judgement.

You will warm up the body, free the voice, and explore some games, forms and structures. Most importantly - you'll play, play, play! Discover the sounds and colours of your voice, learn how to create vocal patterns, explore your voice as an instrument, allow movement to inform and inspire you. Learn how to sing your song of the moment.

Through creative connection with yourselves and others, through full integration of voice, body and spirit, you access presence and a deep sense of home.

Who is this event for?
You do not have to be a "singer" to join - everyone has a voice! You must simply be willing to experiment with your voice and offer your positive regard and support as others do the same.

What will you take away from this event?
  • Calm the thinking mind, subvert your internal critic and reconnect with your basic nature of childlike curiosity, playfulness and presence.
  • Improve your musicianship by nurturing your creative thinking, developing your musical intuition and embed  your sense of rhythm, harmony and musical structure in your body.
  • Experience connection with other human beings in a supportive, safe and creative space where our differences are welcomed.

Yoga Nidra for deep relaxation. Known as the ancient Indian practice of yogic sleep, a complete relaxation of body and mind, allowing only an inner awareness of the spirit to be discovered and given attention. To serve you. It’s a way to totally relax as you’re guided into meditation to explore the qualities of self-care and self-nourishment. It's a practice that can help improve sleep, relieve stress and increase your energy and creativity.

We often lead busy schedules at work and home, with long to-do lists and responsibilities in all areas of life. Sometimes we crash and need a reset. Yoga Nidra is where it all comes to a standstill, giving yourself the opportunity to recuperate. To integrate a sense of belonging. To feel at home within ourselves by honouring the subtle voice within and creating a loving, cozy feeling of wholeness.

"Yoga Nidra is a horizontal meditation upon the threshold of sleep, a conscious way to rest that invites you to nourish every aspect of yourself. It may look as if absolutely nothing is happening, but the deepest of restoration is occurring." - Uma Dinsmore Tuli PhD

Parts of the Yoga Nidra are accompanied by the sounds of a kalimba. Following an hour of Nidra, we return to the present moment to reflect on our experience and the week using a guided journaling practice. There's an option to share with the group over a cup of flavourful tea. You can bring your journal or a notebook to write in. Alternatively, paper can be provided.

There's a half an hour journaling practice at the end, which is optional. You may leave immediately following the Yoga Nidra, if your time allows just that.

Although this is an advanced meditation practice, it's suitable for practitioners of all levels and abilities, if you're willing to stay curious and open to all the possibilities.

The hip is one of the most important joints in the human body— a source of stability and mobility when it's healthy and functional; hip pain and stiffness when it's not. Despite its role of our ability to move with confidence, it remains one of the most misunderstood anatomical structures.

Learn why:
  • Flexibility is not always a reliable benchmark of hip health
  • "Hip openers" are often fetishised to the detriment of practitioners
  • Hip strength is undervalued

In this workshop you will learn self-massage techniques that help you to feel more comfortable and at ease in your body. You will relieve mental / emotional stress that might be related to tension in your back, hips, pelvic floor, legs or knees.

Johanna will teach you rolling techniques, using Roll Model® Therapy Balls of different sizes to target common tension areas in the body. Together you will roll through a sequence, proven to affect profound change in your hip flexors, pelvic floor muscles, glutes, spine, thighs, calves and feet.

The Roll Model Method® is a myofascial release self-massage practise to help improve range of movement, strengthen musculature around the joints and erase pain. This includes breath work, check ins and re-checks and learning about your own Fascia & Anatomy. Find out about imbalances through over stimulation or under use of muscle groups and connected tissues and improve postural imbalances.

Studies are proving, that the practise of SMFR also naturally lifts your mood. After this roll out session you will feel heavenly - not only in your hips - but in your whole body.

Massage balls and equipment will be provided in the workshop.

A recording is included and available for 15 days in case you can't make it to the live online session.
For the online workshop you need a set of 2 yoga tune up balls (or similar) and a courageous ball (or similar) by the Roll Model method.

Moments of quietude where deep rest meets healing

An invitation to experience two healing arts at once, in the heart of Lisbon. We begin by creating a comfortable cocoon, and as music soothes your practice, you as a group will continuously receive 45 minutes of uninterrupted Reiki - the art of energy healing. We follow by a guided yoga nidra visualisation meditation to surrender into complete rest and ease.

The art of rest, known as yogic sleep, invites you to open your heart and hear its rhythm. It invites you to experience complete relaxation allowing only an inner awareness of your spirit to be discovered and held. It invites you to look within for all that you desire and honour it by allowing it to surface.

We intend to integrate a sense of belonging during the Yoga Nidra and dissolve any physical and emotional blocks whilst receiving Reiki. We end by returning to our cosy space feeling lighter and well-rested, calmer and realigned.

  • The practice is suitable for people with reduced mobility.
  • The practice is suitable for speakers of all languages, it does not require you to have a certain understanding of English/ Portuguese.
  • No previous experience or knowledge is required.
  • The practice is suitable for anyone who is happy to lie down or remain seated for the duration of the workshop and just receive.
  • You are over the age of 17.

What might you take away with you from this workshop? Hopefully nothing :) We are intending to leave things behind instead; to leave lighter than when we arrived.

The group treatment offers a saving of 75% of the cost of a private Reiki and Nidra session.

A chance to deepen your practice and to explore.

A fun and in-depth exploration of movement and individual postures with the aim of finding more space in the body and accessing deeper strength and a more congruent alignment. We look for ways to create the conditions in the body so great movement feels effortless.

In these immersions we will focus on regulating our nervous system and finding ways to return into our own axis, physically, emotionally and mentally.

The Scaravelli inspired approach is an invitation to play with gravity, free the breath and find space in the body to allow it to move to its full potential. That way the body can start to work deeper and move more freely into yoga postures, exploring how these openings and connections can help us un-do habitual (and potentially painful) holding patterns. Then we can embark on a journey of restoration and transformation.

Rest, release and receive.

This workshop starts off with some gentle movement and Restorative Yoga set to the rhythm of complementary music, followed by Reiki healing and a deep Yoga Nidra. This nourishing combo is guaranteed to send you into another dimension of relaxation! It's the perfect antidote to stress and a great way to reset and restore.

The slow and gentle stretching we begin eases us to start dropping out of the mind and into the body. We then move into the restorative practice, which includes longer held postures. The mixture of movement and stillness is a treat for your nervous system and will help to ease stress and anxiety held in the body and mind. To relax is to rest deeply and when we set aside time to truly rest and relax we let our system renew and recover from daily stresses and strains, we let the body & mind do what it needs to do to re-balance. Here we can find some inner stillness and connection.

As we let the body remain still, you’ll individually receive Reiki healing intended to complement your relaxation experience while aligning any energetic imbalances. The practice of Yoga Nidra is our check-in with ourselves, inspired by the Astro sky of the Full Moon.
